Development of our system technology
The process was developed by the company Nagel GmbH and is patented. More than two decades of research and development, led us to a level of knowledge about the effect of ultrasonic treatment on sewage sludge. As a result Buse Engineering, in close cooperation to the company Sonotronic, was able to evolve the technology consistently.
Today Buse Engineering has established the technology with numerous practical test and implementations.
Sewage sludge is guided through a system of passage pipes, equipped with high intensity ultrasonic-sonotrodes where the process of disintegration takes place.The volume flow, the extraction point and the position of the return conduit can be designed to the requirements of the individual plant.
Our sonotrodes are cleaned cyclical with rinse water, as an integral part of the process. This keeps the flow-cells and the sonotrodes clean and ensures a reliable process.
Sewage treatment plants
Our high-performance ultrasonic technology can be used in municipal and in industrial sewage treatment plants for a numerous amount of different applications. To mention first clearly is the increase of biogas yield and the reduction dry matter, but also the control of bulking sludge and foam and a better elimination of nitrogen by, providing internal carbon carriers, is an important aspect.
Status of development
Over the last years, our systems have evolved to a really stable product. Our implemented technology is robust and low-maintenance. The entire technical process is automated controlled and monitored. With the help of a continuous data-logging, all relevant data can be analyzed and evaluated anytime. The control technology used is made by Siemens and can be operated via touch-panels. The system can be supervised and controlled via remote access or can be connected to the central bus-system of your sewage treatment plant.
Our systems are always made to measure to the existing environmental and ambient conditions. If there´s no space on the premises, an installation in a container is easily possible.
Our systems are generally delivered fully assembled on a frame support. It has been tested in a circulation mode with water in our factory. This way we can guarantee to deliver a fully working system. As a result a short startup-time can be ensured.
If desired, a pilot can be carried out in advance with a pilot system provided. This is not necessary for the design of the plant, as we have extensive results from pilot projects over the past 20 years.
EXAMPLES IN PRACTICAL USE
Sewage treatment plant Heide (Germany)
The supply and discharge lines including the sludge pump and control and measurement technology were also supplied for the Heide sewage treatment plant.
The first level of system technology runs just as reliably as the subsequent further developments. The new systems are designed to be more compact.

Sewage treatment plant Bad Lippspringe (Germany)
At the sewage treament plant in Bad Lippspringe our technology was implemented 2018, in an existing pumphouse. We delivered the entire system, including all piping.

Sewage treatment plant Rudolstadt (Germany)
In 2019 our technology was implemented into the supply pipe system by the operating company. We delivered a tailor made system, ready and easy to be integrated.

- 26% increase of biogas production
Sewage treatment plan Forli (Italy)
Our system was delivered completely assembled on a frame rack. Pipe connections were done by the operators themselves. Startup procedure and technical instruction of the staff was done in one day.

Sewage treatment plant Mainz (Germany)
Due to the special arrangement of the digestion towers, an installation in a container was the best option at this sewage plant. Containers are easy to be placed on the premises of every sewage treatment plant.
Special situations, like these, sometimes require the application of pump-technology. Our plant technology is always tailor made to the requirements of our customers.
